Final at Woodhall Spa
Two members have won through to the National final of the Australian Spoons Foursome competition to be held at Woodhall Spa.
Organised by England Golf, Lynn Ellerton and Sue Ratcliffe were victorious in the Midland North Regional Final held at Burton-on-Trent Golf Club on Thursday July 11.
The pair came home with 36 points narrowly beating a two-some from Spalding Golf Club in the competition that had a field of 90 players.
Lynn and Sue playing off half their combined handicaps had 21 shots but struggled on the first nine holes blobbing the first par five and returning only 14 points. On the back nine, however, they came in with 22 points with three points on three holes and four points on the tricky 17th hole.
Lynn, who is chair of Match and Handicap said she was thrilled to win and put their victory down to the big hitting of Sue.
Sue joined last year as a second club member and became a full member this year moving from Hill Valley.
