Hot golf in sizzling conditions
Eight seniors have recently enjoyed a golfing trip to Portugal, playing four venues at Vilamoura in the Algarve.
Despite dire warnings from fellow members about costs of seniors health insurance! Would we all come back; make it there at all; or even have enough balls for four days? the group surpassed all expectations and played some glorious golf at times over the holiday.
All smiles in the sunshine from Roger Evans, Paul Butterfield, Kevin Lowndes, Fred Manley, Guy Gibbons, John Upton, Barry Davies and Jim Blackburn, who played The Milleniuim, Laguna, Vila Sol and Pinhal courses in Vilamoura in near perfect weather conditions.
They competed each day in a full handicap Stableford format, with the day's individual winner taking the money but losing two shots for the privilege.
The overall winner was a well-deserving Guy Gibbons who played consistently good golf over all the courses.
Generally, the group had a superb golfing trip and are looking forward to a return next year.
