Birdie boys under pressure

Sizzling sun on the hottest day of the year graced a hard-fought winter league final this week.

Matt Birch and Fred Turner-Handley faced a machine gun of shots from John Gardiner and Harry Matthey.

Matt and Fred were one up after nine but found themselves under pressure on the 16th,  - two down to John and Harry.  

 Then the birdies boys kicked in. Fred birdied 17 and Matt birdied 18 to square the match.

Matt off plus one, birdied the first play-off hole to win.

The winners get the much-coveted winter league trophy and £120 each and the runners-up get £60 each.
